On 5th December 2024 the Debate Club conducted the morning Assembly, where some of the best debaters of the club took to the stage, presenting their argument on a pertinent topic : ‘India's biggest export today is its people - Is this a boon or a bane for our nation?’ ‘Brain gain or Brain drain’.
Arguing that the export of people brings acclaim to our nation, we had the Proposition – Zoya Begum (XI-A2), Priyanka Nandin (X-B) and Eshal Zehra (IX-C). On the other side, arguing that brain drain only worsens the state of our country, we had the Opposition – Zara Begum (X-B), Sahana Rhea Bout (XI-A3) and Fiona Kristine R (IX-A).
The debate was judged by Harshini A (XII-A2) and Senthalir V (XII-A2).
Both sides presented their arguments with clarity and poise, and answered spontaneous questions with confidence. All in all, it was a fruitful and thought-provoking debate.
The winning team was the Opposition, with Fiona Kristine R bagging the overall best speaker. In addition, Eshal Zehra was the best speaker from the Proposition.
